As Altair, your job is to complete various missions under the direction of the assassin's guild leader, learning more about the world around you from the cities you traverse, the people you encounter, and the marks that you murder.Īltair starts as an overconfident and prideful man, but is quickly humbled as his enemies continually get the better of him. The Crusades are well under way, and the relationships between both friendly and quarreling groups of the time are tenuous at best. When you are playing as Altair, you'll find yourself in the midst of a massive strife. While I'm not about to spoil it, I will say that within minutes of playing the title your initial questions will be answered only to give way to whole new ones. Though most of the game does indeed do just that, there is a significant chunk of the title missing from that explanation.

Up to this point, the public was led to believe that Assassin's Creed focused solely on the adventures of an elite assassin named Altair, working through a variety of hits in the unique setting of the Crusades. Perhaps the biggest draw for those who have been following the game will be the story. While the game does inherit some features from past titles, though, there's definitely marked improvement that has certainly pushed the genre forward-but we'll return to that later. The stealth play draws heavily from popular games in the genre the detection system is reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid, and at times you'll feel that when you're assassinating people in Jerusalem that you're basically playing Hebrew Hitman (or perhaps more accurately Hadith Hitman). It's easy to see that the game follows closely in the footsteps of other titles, like the development team's previous title Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. To put it in the simplest terms, Assassin's Creed is a third-person action-adventure game with elements of stealth. The time has finally come to uncloak the many mysteries behind the title and see if Ubisoft has delivered on the lofty goal of revolutionizing the action-adventure genre. The highly anticipated title, which has garnered attention since the birth of this console generation, has finally arrived after nearly four years of development and a grueling media campaign of slow reveals and hidden secrets. Such is the core philosophy of Ubisoft's hopeful holiday smash Assassin's Creed. Isn't that what you assassins call for? Peace in all things? The human race calls out for direction they want to know why they're here. A simple set of laws governing the mysterious group striving for 'total peace.' But is it just that simple? These are the rules laid out to the members, the brothers, of the Assassin's guild. Three simple tenets: stay one's blade from the flesh of the innocent draw not attention to oneself whenever possible and never compromise the brotherhood.
